The table gives information about the weight of men and women in a nation in three years 1999, 2004 and 2009 respectively.
Looking from an overall perspective, it is readily apparent that both genders remain stable at normal weight. In the first stage, while the figure for overweight in men stood out as the most dramatic, that of women showed a contrasting pattern.
In 1999, the women’s ratio of overweight represented roughly 49%, and 27% were seen in underweight. A similar trend was observed in men with 41% normal weight and 21% at under weight. Notably, while the overweight men emerged as 30%, that of women was minimally lower at 18%. In 2004 , the percentage of women and men who were at normal weight underwent an escalating tendency of nearly 51% and 48%, in turn. Both genders tied at 47% in 2009.
Regarding 2004, while the number of overweight women witnessed an upward trajectory around 21%, the opposite was true for men about 23%. There was a slight fluctuation and contrast between the two genders. Particularly, the underweight women increased slowly by 2% in 2004, after that decreasing by 1% and standing at 29% in 2009. On the other hand, the underweight men declined slightly by 2% in 2004 before experiencing a gradual rise to 23% in 2009.
