The table illustrates the distribution of water usage in three sectors, including domestic, industrial and agricultural purposes in four nations.
Overall, agriculture accounts for the largest share of water use in Egypt and Saudi Arabia, while New Zealand and Canada allocated the majority of water resources to industrial purposes. Additionally, domestic use represents the smallest proportion of water consumption in all countries, except for Canada.
Regarding Egypt, water is most utilized for agricultural purposes at 82%, followed distantly by that for industrial and residential usage, at 10% and 8%, respectively. A relatively similar pattern can be seen in Saudi Arabia, as 64% of water consumption is allocated for agriculture, more than double the figure for industry (30%), while household use accounts for only 6%.
In Canada, the percentage of water use for industry is the highest, at 70%, which is seven times the share of agriculture and more than triple as high as that for domestic use. Concerning New Zealand, industry and agriculture have relatively similar proportions, at around 45% each, compared to 10% allotted to the domestic sector.
