The table depicts the percentage of water usage for different purposes in four countries.
Overall, water use for industry and agriculture was higher than water usage for daily activities, except in Canada, where domestic and industrial water usage was more than that of agriculture. Notably, Egypt and Saudi Arabia allocated more water to the agricultural sector, whereas New Zealand and Canada saw the highest water utilization for the industrial sector.
Regarding Egypt, 82% of the water supply was used for agricultural purposes, while industrial and domestic uses accounted for only 10% and 8%, respectively. Similarly, in Saudi Arabia, the majority of water was allocated to agriculture. Moreover, while 30% of water was consumed by industry, the proportion of domestic water usage was five times lower at 6%.
Regarding the remaining regions, in New Zealand, industrial and agricultural water consumption were nearly similar at 46% and 44%, respectively. In contrast, the household just consumed only 10% of the water. Moreover, Canada showed a disparity in water consumption. In detail, 70% of water was utilized for industry, which was over three times higher than domestic use and sevenfold compared to agriculture.
