The table illustrates the number of tourists in millions and changes in percentages in eight countries in 2009 and 2010.
Overall, the number of international tourists in all countries grew with the exceptions of France, where it stayed the same and the largest number of tourists, and Hong Kong, where it saw a decline. It is also clear that the number of tourists in Germany almost doubled compared with the previous year.
The number of travellers in France remained the same without any changes, with 76 million tourists in both years. In contrast, tourists in Hong Kong decreased from 10 in 2009 to 9 million, experiencing a -11% change, standing last throughout the period. The number of tourists in the USA rose by 1,5% from 66 in 2009 to 67 million in 2010, while, in Spain, it increased by 1,8% to 56 million in 2010 from 55 million in 2009. Regarding the UK and Italy, they increased by 3,6% and 2,3% from 55 to 57 in 2010 in the former and from 44 in 2009 to 45 million in 2010 in the latter.
When it comes to Turkey, the number of visitors rose by 33%, from 33 in 2009 to 45% in 2010, whereas, in China, it went by 55% to 34% in 2010. Finally, the number of tourists increased to twice the number of the previous year, with 109%, to 23 million.
