The table compares how many oversea visitors arriving to 8 different countries and its rate gap between two years 2009 and 2010.
Overall, what is most striking when looking at the data is the overall increase of international tourist volumes in 6 nations US, Spain, UK, Italy, Turkey, China and Germany, with the exception in Hongkong, which recorded a net reduction, and France. Also noticeable is that France gained most favorable among 8 countries surveyed in both years.
Looking first at the most predominant countries in tourism, although the percentage of oversea visitors to France accounted for the highest in both years examined, it remained stable at 76 millions (m) each year. Meanwhile, that in US and Spain witness a similar slight rise by around 1.5% (1m each) from 66m and 55m, respectively. There was a marginal growth in the figure for international tourists to UK from 55m in 2009 to 57m in 2010 (3,6%), a few higher than that to Italy with 2.3% increase from 44 in 2009.
Turning to other nations, foreign traveller volumes to Turkey, China and Germany all experienced a substantial increase despite its few number than the aforementioned countries. In 2009, while there were 11m foreigners travelling to Germany, one half of that to China and one third to Turkey, its figure showed the most drastic rise by 109% to 23m. Besides, China and Turkey’s foreign visitors also increased significantly by 55% and 33% to 34m and 45m, respectively. By contrast, only in Hongkong did the rate of international tourists fell considerably by 11% from 10m in 2009 to 9m in 2010.
