The table provides data about the proportion of visitors according to age groups from the UK to Spain in 1981 and 2015.
In general, it is evident that the percentage of visitors aged 16-24 and 55+ increased significantly over the 34-year period, whereas the reverse was true for those aged 25-45 decreased considerably. Meanwhile, the figure for those aged 0-15 experienced a moderate rise.
In 1981, the highest share of visitors was observed among those aged 25-35, which accounted for 50%. By 2015, however, this figure had fallen markedly to 32%. Similarly, the proportion of visitors aged 35-45 almost halved from 22% to 12% in 1981 and 2015. The percentage of those aged 16-24, on the other hand, nearly quadrupled from 4% in 1981 to 15% in 2015. By contrast, the proportion of young visitors aged 0-15 contrasted with other age groups. This is because experiencing a slight rise about 2%. In the meantime, the percentage of elderly visitors aged 55+ grew noticeably from 16% to 25%.
