The table demonstrates the shifts in cinemas in four different regions in a European country from 2004 till 2009. Overall, the city center and near city center exhibited the highest proportion of changes, in contrast, the suburb and countryside showed the lowest percentages throughout the period.
Focusing first on the city center, it had the highest number of cinemas among other regions, with a figure of 1,512 in 2004, slightly increasing to 1,620 by the final year, demonstrating a rising proportion of +7.14%. The near city center followed this trend by showing an increase in the percentage of cinemas. In the first year, the near city area had 300 cinemas, but this figure increased over the years. In 2009, it reached 400 cinemas, with a percentage change of +33.33%.
In contrast, the suburb and countryside bucked the trend by showing decreases in both regions. In 2004, the suburb had 40 cinemas, which declined by the last year to 30, showing a percentage change of -25%. The countryside followed the same pattern, also decreasing in the number of cinemas. In 2004, the number of cinemas was 108, but it declined to 90 by 2009, giving a proportion of -16.67%. In general, cinemas experienced an overall increase over the years, starting from 2,100 and rising to 2,287, with a total percentage change of +8.9%.
