Overall, Samsung and Apple witnessed an upward trend, whereas a decline was observed in remaining brand. Notably, Nokia stood at the top position albeit fluctuating.
To begin with, 345 million Nokia’s mobile phones sold, surpassing the figure for Motorola by just over 100 million. The amount of Samsung and Ericsson phones sold were lower, with the figures being 117 million and 74 miliion in 2006 respectively. Apple recorded no data in the first year.
Afterward, Samsung experienced a dramatic rise, increasing to 396.5 million mobile phone sold in 2012 and it took the leading in the position.Similar changes were seen in Apple store, rising from 2.3-135.8 million phones sold.In contrast, Ericsson and Motorola saw a decrease with 28 million phones sold per company in 2012. Nokia phones, albeit lagging behind 2006 at 335 million mobile phones sold, also far overtaking any other brands in 2012.
