The given figure gives information about how many mobile phones are sold in five different brands in millions from 2006 to 2012.
From an overall perspective, the figures for most brands fluctuated, excepted Samsung and Apple. In addition, the portion of phones sold by Nokia was the highest for all of the year until it was overtaken by Samsung.
As can be seen, in 2006, Nokia’s phone sales ranked first at 345 millions , roughly two times higher than Samsung, at 117 millions. In the next two years, there was a significant fall in the number of cell phones sold by Motorola to 108 millions, followed by that by Ericsson and Apple, respectively at 95 millions and 12 millions.
In 2010, the Apple’s mobile phones sales were the same as Ericsson, at 42 millions, which was 3 millions higher than Motorola. Then, the number of phones sold by Ericsson was the lowest, which was a tenth of that by Samsung, at roughly 330 millions. Furthermore, the last year witnessed a dramatically growth by approximately 397 millions in the Samsung’s phones sales, while the sales of Ericsson was as higher as that of Motorola, at 28 millions.
