The table illustrates the proportion of women in parliament and serving as a manager in 2000 in various countries, namely Canada, Norway, Tobago and Trinidad, Uruguay and Italy.
It is clear that the percentage of women was generally higher in management than in parliament across all five countries. Norway had the largest percent of female parliamentarians, whereas Italy recorded the highest proportion of women in managerial roles.
With regard to parliament positions, Norway had the largest percentage, accounting for 36% in parliament, which is followed by Canada with 28%. In Tobago and Trinidad, the proportion of women stood at less than a fifth of parliamentary seats (19%). Meanwhile, the figure for Uruguay and Italy is just under 11 percent, 8 and 10 respectively.
In terms of manager seats, Italy had the biggest share of female managers, at 54%. In particular, the percentage of women as managers in Tobago and Trinidad with Norway had a significant percent, the former at 40%, and the latter accounted for 52%. Finally, the percentage of female managers in Canada was the same as in Uruguay, at 37%.
