The table represents the sales of Fairtrade labelled coffee and bananas in 1999 and 2004 in five European countries namely United Kingdom, Switzerland, Denmark, Belgium and Sweden.
Fairtrade branded coffee sales rose drastically in United Kingdom over the years with 1.5 million euros during 1999 to 20 million euros in 2004. In Switzerland, Fairtrade bananas sales soared with 15 million euros in 1999 to 47 million euros in 2004 and double the sales in coffee. Denmark and Belgium showed a very slow increase of nearly 0.5 million euros from 1999 to 2004 in the sale of Fairtrade coffee. Both coffee and bananas sale increased by 0.2 million euros in Sweden from 1999 to 2004. Meanwhile, Denmark showed a decrease in sale of bananas from 2 million euros in 1999 to 0.9 million euros in 2004. On the contrary, United Kingdom and Belgium bananas sales pulmmeted over the years.
To conclude, Fairtrade coffee sales inceased in all five European countries meanwhile only four showed the same response in the sale of bananas.
