The table illustrates the distribution of the Earth population in general and by regions in three periods of time – in 1950, 200, and forecasted situation of population in 2050. The total world population displayed in billions, while population by regions are in percentage share.
Overall, it can be seen, that world population increased dramatically, from 2.5 to 9.0 billions of people. More than a half of the total population was distrubited in Asia. Africa and Europe made up almost one-fifth in a different periods. Other regions, that are America and Oceania remained stable.
The total world population had almost trippled in 2000 since 1950, which is 2.5 bullions and 6.0 billions accordingly. Furthermore, it is estimated to become 9.0 billions people, which is even 1,5 times higher than in 2000.
In 1950, Asia’s population amounted to 56%, the second largest share of population was in Europe, 22%. However, Oceania was one of the least populated, fewer than 1%. Other regions do not exceeded 10%. The number did not change by the 2000, except population of Europe, which dropped to 12%, and share of Africa become higher by 4 percent points. The picture of estimated population also remains stable for all regions, but Africa, which percent rises to 20%
