This is followed by financial considerations, which encompass 40% of the total. A quarter of smokers express a desire to quit due to the risk of illness. The least significant reasons are current health problems and family pressure, with 16% and 12%, respectively.
Looking at the timing of cessation, nearly 71% of all smokers hope to quit, while 29% are not willing to give it up. Twelve percent of smokers plan to stop within the next month, which is about 10% less than those aiming to quit in the following year. Just over a third of smokers are inclined to quit within the next six months.
