The table illustrates surveys’ result in two distinct years, 1980 and 2010, on different six aspects of city living – education, healthcare, the environment, shops, employment, transport – in a certain city. The data is given in fractions.
Overall, these six aspects were regarded as good among three options in the survey. While healthcare took the dominance in the survey, being considered as one of the best aspects in 1980, education surpassed this after 30 years later. A mere of survey participants admitted that there should not be given the least attention to the education.
A substantial proportion of survey takers supported that education (72%), healthcare (82%) and the environment (72%) as the main aspects of city living in 1980. In other words, less than 10% of respondents rejected this view. Although shops, employment and transport were seen important aspects of living in the city, the percentage of them were lower than 65%. This is because almost a quarter survey participants were in the neutral position in this year.
However, aspect of education took the precedence in 2010 as the most significant, rising by 10% to 82%. Similarly, employment aspect witnessed steady increase of 10%, reaching at 72%. The remaining aspects saw downward trend, declining marginally by 1-4%, apart from transport which experienced 15% decrease, accounting for 39%, almost the number survey takers who didn’t rely on this aspect.
