The rendered line chart highlights Australia’s trade with three countries, namely China, Japan, and the United States, between 2004 and 2009.

The overall graph illustrates that Australia was the biggest importer of Chinese goods. Likewise, it exported majority of its goods to China. The United States and Japan had steady and constant export figures.

On close inspection, it is evident that Australia’s biggest business partner was China. The export and import figures kept rising drastically over a period of time. In 2008, both nations had an equal trade figure for export and import, that is, 30 billion Australian dollars. However, Australian export business surpassed and peaked in 2009, with export trade figure of 35 billion Australian dollars.

Furthermore, Japan and the United States export figures were constant with very slight fluctuations. They had nearly 20 billion Australian dollars business trade with Australia. The United States was the smallest importer of Australian goods, with import figure of 10 billion Australian dollars. Conversely, Japan’s import of Australian goods kept on increasing over a period of time, which peaked in 2008, with a trade figure of 40 billion Australian dollars, ending with a slight downfall in 2009.
