The three pie charts illustrate an annual expedition of local authorities in Someland in 1980, 1990 and 2000.
Regarding the tertiary sector, it comprised 35% of the authority’s spending, dominated the chart in 1980, increasing by 10% 10 years later, before slightly falling to 40% in 2000. Meanwhile, the figure for health and human resources showed the same trend, accounting for 14% of total in 1980, growing to 20% in 1990, finally dropping to 22% in 2000. The figure for other spending and environment services took up relatively the smallest proportion of the charts, however, indicating contradicting trends, while that of other expenditures showed a downfall, starting from 6% in 1980, gradually decreasing to 1% at the end of the period. Conversely, the figure for environmental services rose from 4% in 1980 to 9% in 2000. Whilst, the figure for K-12 education and transportation made up the second and the third largest proportion in 1980,at 25% and 16%, respectively, both dropping to 20 and 6%, however, that of transportation increased fourfold at 22% in 2000, and that of education kept decreasing to 18%.
Overall, after 20 years, the local government put more financial priority on education, environmental services and transportation over other sectors than they did.
