The pie chart illustrates the main motivators for migration amongst respondents, and the bar chart gives information about the rankings of different countries based on the quality of life index in 2014.
According to the pie chart, job related factors played the most essential role in people’s relocation to another country, more than half of the respondents consider work opportunities and job offers to be significant factors influencing their decision to relocate. Next came family which accounted for 22%, followed by education at 15%. Finally, an improved lifestyle made up 9% and only 3% of the survey participants migrated for adventure.
In the bar chart, it is clearly seen that Sweden and Australia were the joint highest ranking countries with a life index halfway between 7.9 and 8 followed by Canada, Norway and USA which all had an index of around 7.8-7.9. The other five countries presented, which include Switzerland, the UK, the Netherlands, Denmark and Iceland, all scored an index between 7.5 and 7.7.
Overall, the correlation between better job opportunities and a higher quality of life in countries like Sweden, Australia and Canada further emphasizes the importance of these factors in driving migration trends.
