The line graph illustrates the percentage of criminal convictions between female and male in different ages in England, and the pie chart gives a percentage breakdown of gender distribution in the British prison system. Overall, although both male and female exhibit similar trend, male commit far more crimes than female across all age groups. In addition, at the age of 20, the crime rate is the highest in both genders.
To be more specific, it is obvious that the rate of criminal convictions of both sexes increases dramatically during their teenage years and peaks at the age of about 20, with 16% of male’s crimes and 5% of female’s crimes respectively. Also evident is the fact that after the age of 20, the men and women’s figures have a sharp decline until they are 60, falling to the same level as the initial data in the age of 10, which is 2% and 0%.
Looking at the gender of prison inmates in the UK, there is a huge gender imbalance. Male dominates in the prison, accounting for 96% of prisoners in the UK, while female only makes up 4%.
