The two line-graphs present the average temperature and average house of sunshine in two Australian cities (Melbourne and Darwin) throughout the year.
Darwin’s overall temperature is higher than Melbourne’s during the whole year. Darwin experiences its lowest temperature in January, with 18 degrees Celsius, and August is its hottest month, with 30 degrees Celsius. The Temperature in Darwin constantly rises from January and reaches its peak in August before a gradual decline until 21 degrees Celsius in December. By contrast, Melbourne has a moderate temperature, with its coldest month in January, 6 degree Celsius, and highest temperature in July, 18 degrees Celsius. Melbourne also has a similar change in temperature as it is in Darwin. Its temperature climbs gradually from January and peaks in July, followed by a decline until December, 8 degrees Celsius.
The average hours of sunshine is correlated with the temperature in the two cities. In Darwin, the amount of sunshine time steadily increases from 6 hours in January to 11 hours in June. Sunshine time then remains the same in the following three months, before dropping to 8 hours in December. Whereas, the sunshine hours in Melbourne decline from 10 hours in January to 6 hours in May. It levels off during May and September, and after that, it grows back to 10 hours in December.
