The given pie charts depict the main energy sources in the USA in the 1980s and the 1990s.
Overall, it is evident from both the graphs that oil was a major source of energy in both decades. Additionally, coal and natural gas collectively provided around 50% of energy in the 1980s as well as in the 1990s. Nuclear and Hydroelectric power were also two other sources of energy in the USA. However, energy produced using hydroelectric power remained same as 5% for both decades.
In 1980, oil provided the highest amount of energy accounting for 42% of the total, followed by natural gas which produced 26% of the energy during that time. Hydroelectric power as well as nuclear power supplied equal amounts of energy, which was 5%, in the country.
Although, Oil provided 42% of energy in 1980s, it reduced to just 33% in the following decade. The energy produced by coal and natural gas only differ by a few percentages. While the energy production using hydroelectric power remained same, the production of energy using nuclear power was twice as before.
