The pie charts illustrate how proportions of primary energy sources of USA changed between 1980 and 1990.
Overall, in both years, oil, natural gas and coal made up almost all of the energy produced. The shares of all sources of energy experienced changes to varying degrees between the 2 years, except the proportion of hydroelectric power which stood unchanged in both years.
In 1980, the biggest source of energy was oil accounted for almost half of the pie chart (42 %). Natural gas and coal, however, showed the same proportion together, 26% for natural gas and 22% for coal respectively. By 1990, the shares of natural gas and oil had declined by 1 and 9 percentage points, while energy produced by coal had increased by 5.
Turning to the lowest shares, nuclear power and hydroelectric power, which proportions was at the same amount (5%) in 1980. However, the former one’s percentage had doubled by 1990, the latter one had not experienced any changes- the only stable one in the graph.
