The two pie graphs compare the proportion of main energy sources in the USA in 1980 and 1990. From an overall perspective, oil represents the largest proportion in both graphs, followed by natural gas and coal.
In 1980, oil contributed to 42% of the total energy, while natural gas, the second biggest contributor, was at 26%. Over the 10 years, oil has significantly dropped to 33%. On the other hand, natural gas has shown a small decline from 26% to 25%.
Coal has shown an increase in the amount of energy, while hydroelectric power remained the same, and Nuclear power has doubled from 1980 to 1990. Coal was at 22% in 1980 and has grown to 27%. Hydroelectric power remains at 5% in both graphs, and the amount of Nuclear power has doubled from 5% in 1980 to 10% by 1990.
