The two maps illustrate the changes in road access to a city hospital between 2007 and 2010.
Overall, the main developments involved the creation of a new roundabout and a dedicated bus station, along with the relocation of the public car park.
In 2007, the City Hospital was situated within a ring road, with access primarily from Hospital Road, which connected to City Road in the south. A car park, serving both staff and the public, was located to the east of Hospital Road, slightly away from the hospital building. A bus stop was situated on City Road, to the east of the junction with Hospital Road.
By 2010, significant alterations had been made to the road network surrounding the hospital. A new roundabout had been constructed at the junction of Hospital Road and City Road. This roundabout now provided access not only to Hospital Road leading to the hospital but also to a newly built bus station located to the west of Hospital Road. Consequently, the original bus stop on City Road had been removed.
Furthermore, the car parking facilities had been separated . The original car park to the east of Hospital Road was now designated solely for staff. A new public car park had been established to the east of the hospital building, directly accessible from the ring road. This provided a more direct route for public vehicles to the hospital’s parking area.
