Given are two maps illustrating the differences in Dalton town in 1815 and 2015.
Overall, the Dalton town experienced many spectacular developments toward industrialization and witnessed fewer natural features.
As can be seen from the maps, a small river divided the maps into two parts. Concerning the left side of the river, most parts of Dalton Forest were knocked down in order to construct more public infrastructure such as a hospital, residential buildings and factories. A road was built on the Bridleway path and a bridge was erected to connect the road to the other side of the river, and also a new road was constructed, linking the hospital with the main road network so that people could travel around. Lastly, there were two new factories beside the River Dal and another one to the north of it, creating an industrial zone.
Regarding the other side of the river, after two centuries, most of the trees were cut down to build roads and houses for residents. Moreover, Not only was Hall farm demolished to make room to expand residential housing, but it also develop a road system to improve traffic flow. Additionally, to the east of the school was a new hotel for visitors to stay, and beside the River Dal was a new airport.
