The maps illustrate how a town called Dalton has changed over 200 years starting in 1815.
Overall, it is evident that the town’s residential area has been expanded and the introduction of new amenities. In addition, the key changes are the urbanisation and the industrialization of the town.
In 1815, on the west side of the map, the town had a river in the center of the map and just only had one road accessing Dalton forest on the other side. After that, the road was widened to the north and west. Meanwhile, a part of it to the west was repurposed into a chain of houses and an industrial zone to meet people’s needs, a hospital was built to the opposite side of these. In 2015, a bridge was erected to connect both sides of the river and serve Dalton’s citizens for convenience.
On the eastern part of the map, there used to be just a few houses, a livestock farm such as horses and cows farm and a hall farm right below that. However, after 200 years, the hall farm and livestock farmings were removed in order to build a school and hotel providing a complete place for people to live. Besides, while the expansion of Dalton’s residential estates is everywhere, an airport was constructed near the river to the south that could improve the quality life of people in Dalton effectively in the future.
