The maps illustrate the changing landscapes of Dalton town between 1815 and 2015.
Looking at the graph, it is obvious that Dalton town underwent dramatic urbanization with changes in terms of infrastructure. The renovation of roads was accompanied by the expansion of residential area and the demolition of forest for new industrial and housing zone.
On the east side of the area, there was a noticeable development occurred in Dalton town. The Bridle way was removed to build a new bridge and roads, which linked each part of Dalton together. Also, a new housing area was built along one side of the bridge road to replace the old hall farm. On the other side, a new airport was constructed next to the Dal river banks. Unlike the southern part, the Dalton town had an expansion of the old residential area with the new building of school and hotel.
On the west side of Dalton town, the forest was knocked down to establish a new industrial zone with many factories and houses. Opposite to the new housing area, there was a construction of a hospital to serve the residents’ demand for healthcare.
