The given two maps illustrates the structural evolution of a town called Westley. The first map represents the plan of the town when it was 1815 and the following image shows the current structural plan of the town.
When we look closer and compare the two maps, it is clear most of the city had changed. Many buildings are torn down such as the housing area behind the town hall, church, the Coach Inn and Lord Westley’s House. It is observable that Lord Westley’s House is replaced with two new buildings: The Red Lion and Lenton Hotel. Now there is a sports centre and a museum where once The Coach Inn stood. Also it seems Church is turned into a shopping centre with expanding it’s lands. The changing buildings suggests the town is modernized in time. There are more facilities that might serve the needs of the people now.
Alongside the building nature also had it’s share from the change. It is obvious there is no green area now, all the trees are cut down and fields are out of the picture.
Moreover, It is clear the transportation had evolved as well. There is a new railroad and a train station now. Furthermore, the road system has been extended while it was cut off at the fields earlier.
In summary, the structure of the town tremendously changed over the last two hundred years. While it had limited facilities, limited transportation options and more green areas, now it is in more modernized structure. It has several social facilities such as cinema, sports centre, shopping mall. On the other hand, it lost it’s natural resources such as green areas and fields.
