The two maps illustrate the transformations of a lakeside between 2000 and 2009.
Overall, the lake side has been underwent several changes to become an industrialize area. the most significant transformation were the destruction of the woodland area, the expansion of the industrial complex, and the destruction of residential areas.
In 2000, there were three residential areas presented on the map. The first one was located in the northwest of the lakeside, which was surrounded by a derelict warehouse and an old town to the east, and an arts centre with a school to the south. In addition, the second residential area was immediately to the right of the arts centre and next to the river. The third one was seen to be in the southeast, which was near an industrial complex, between a river and woodland. Moreover, in the northeast, there could be seen a lake if following the river flowing northward.
In 2009, the first noticeable change was that the number of residential areas had decreased from 3 down to 1, and the area right next to the river had been taken over by a shopping centre, while only one remained stable in the northwest. Another significant transformation was the area surrounding the remaining residential area, with the replacement of the derelict warehouse, old town, and arts centre with a car park, an office, and a multi-screen cinema respectively while the school remained unchanged. Furthermore, the industrial complex had been expanded, leading to the reduction of the woodland area, flattening a residential area, and the lake was transformed into a pond with a university right to the southeast of it.
