These two maps illustrate the changes in a lakeside town over a span of 9 years starting from 2000.
Overall, there were drastic changes made to the town throughout those years. Most areas were either removed or replaced.
First and foremost, the woodland, which used to stretch from north to south, was cut down to the upper right corner of the map in order to make room for the industrial complex’s expansion in the southeast. Additionally, the lake in the northeast was transformed into a pond and the southern residential area was destroyed.
In the northern side of the town, more developments were made as some derelict warehouses were turned into a space for parking. Below it used to be an old town which was then demolished and replaced with a university for undergraduates and some offices, while the residential area in the top-left corner stayed the same by 2009.
Not much had changed regarding the middle part however. The school located in the center of the map got smaller to make room for the multi-screen cinema that was replacing the arts centre on its left. Similarly, the western residential area is now a shopping centre for the public.
