The maps illustrate the improvements of the outskirts of the town of Finsbury between 1980 and 2015. Overall, there experienced a significant development in the outskirts, with major changes in accommodation, facilities, and the road structure and system from 1980 to 2015. Some of the facilities have been completely knocked down while other remained unchanged in 1980.
First and foremost, there showed a dominant replacement and recreational area such as fields in 1980 to a large area of warehouses in 2015. Then, the tennis courts have entirely demolished and constructed into sports centre and car park area in 2015. There was a grocer’s shop in 1980, however, it expanded into a new commercial area called supermarket in 2015.
Furthermore, the main transportation system and design in 1980 was simply constructed, but in 2015, there was a complex structure of road system, with circle shape in the middle of the outskirts. Meanwhile, park has been changed the position and the size was being reduced while houses and hotel area remained constant. Terraced houses were demolished and replaced by large size of car park whereas block of flats were completely removed.
