Overall, there had been several major changes except for the domestic terminal and the parking lot.
Starting with the outline of the airport in 1985, there was a runway located in the far west of the airport. Next to it was an international terminal. Underneath the international terminal, there was a domestic terminal with a car park located below it in the south. A main road linked the domestic terminal and the car park and ran from west to east, with 8 kilometers separating the airport and the city of Tilden. An airport support service area was beside the car park. In the southeast, two factories were present. Above the factories, Johnson’s farm was located in the north.
In contrast, three decades later, the international terminal and car park had expanded, while the domestic terminal had remained the same. The airport support service area had been replaced by bus and light rail stations and relocated between the bus and light rail stations and a new hotel and conference center, which had replaced the two factories. A light rail had been constructed above the bus and light rail stations to reach the city. Johnson’s farm had been demolished and transformed into a housing estate and a business park beside it. The second runway had been added between the business park and the international terminal.
