The chart illustrates Turkey in terms of its contribution to the economy by 8 sectors in 2000 and 2016.
Overall, it’s witnessed that agriculture, government, leisure and hospitality experienced a downward trend, but construction; manufacturing; trade,utilities and transportation; and finance, business and other took the opposite direction, and healthcare and education still remained unchanged over the period shown. In addition, while agriculture was the highest proportion, the figure for finance, business and other was the lowest during the time surveyed.
With 24% in 2000, the percentage for agriculture was the highest, however, it fell dramatically by 10% to 14%. Next, leisure and hospitality and government saw a slight decrease by 3% to 14% and 9% at the same time, while the figure for healthcare and education still stayed stable at 17%.
Besides, the proportion for trade, utilities and transportation was 14%, followed by manufacturing with 8%; finance, business and other with 5%, and construction with 3%. Then they climbed to 16%, 12%, 8%, especially with construction which was three times higher to be 10% at the ending time of the survey.
