The tables show the diversity of the educational environment in the USA and Canada by exhibiting the number of international students in these countries. Besides showing the total number, the list indicates the place of resource for the individuals.
In Canada, foreign students increased their percentage by 17% between the years 2002 and 2004. More specifically, in 2002 there were nearly 60 000 foreigners, in 2004 it rised to slightly over 70 000. Chinese accounted for the biggest group, which followed by North Americans and Indians as the places of resource.
The number of indiviuals who moved to the USA for education was approximately ten times higher than in Canada. In 2002 there were more than 580 thousand internationals studying in the US. Despite the decrase in the total amount by 2%, sharply 570 thousand people were enrolled in 2004. Similar to Canada, Chinese were the largest cohort among all. Moreover, the people from the USA and India were second and third respectively.
It is clearly seen in the data that Canada gained popularity over the years. However, it was still considerably lower when compared to the US, probably due to the abundance of opportunities.
