The two different table display the percentage of households with three different types of internet connection and the average hours spent online per household per week across ten different year in Country B in 2015 and 2025. Overall, the most widely used type of connection and highest hours spent online per week in 2015 was cable type, while Dial-up made up the smallest proportions. Fiber optic usage increased substantially and became the most common type of connection in 2025, while both cable and dial-up declined.
In 2015, cable was the most widely used internet connection, accounting for 40% of households, followed by fiber optic at 25%. Dial-up remained the least preferred option at 20%. By 2025, however, fiber optic saw a major rise to 55%, overtaking all other types. At the same time, cable dropped to 30%, and dial-up experienced a sharp decrease to only 5%.
A similar trend is reflected in the average time households spent online. Fiber optic users recorded an increase from 15 hours per week in 2015 to 30 hours in 2025. Cable users also spent slightly more time online, rising from 20 to 25 hours. In contrast, dial-up households saw a decline from 10 hours to just 4 hours per week, mirroring the fall in its usage rate.
