The two tables illustrate how many students signed up for three types of academic courses and the average number of hours students spent studying per week for each course type between 2010 and 2020
Overall, there was an increase in both enrollment rate and study hours for online courses, while on-campus courses witnessed a remarkable decline in student enrolled rate and a moderate decrease in study hours. In addition, despite remaining stable in popularity, blended courses saw a rise in average weekly study time.
The share of students who applied for online courses started at 15%, after which it experienced a growth to 45% in 2020. Conversely, the figure for on-campus courses experienced a dramatic drop from 70% in 2010 to only 40% in 2020. Meanwhile the proportion of blended courses leveled off at 15% throughout the period.
The average weekly study time for online courses began at 5 hours, with a subsequent increase about 7 hours to reach 12 hours in 2020. Similar changes can be seen in the figure for blended courses rose in the range from 10 hours to 15 hours from 2010 to 2020. The figure for on-campus courses marginally dropped about 1 hours reaching a low at 14 hours in 2020.
