The bar chart illustrates the eight most popular honeymoon destinations for recently married British couples in the year 2010, based on a survey of 5,000 couples.
In general, what stands out is that Thailand was the most famous destination, followed by Bali, while The Lake District was less well-known than the other places.
It is noticeable that Thailand was the most common selection among recently married British couples, with 1,410 couples choosing it. The number of British couples selecting Bali was slightly lower than those opting for Thailand, with 1,335 couples. The third-most and fourth-most popular options were Costa Rica and The Greek Island, with 750 and 600 newlywed British couples respectively.
Out of the eight destinations, The Lake District was nowhere near as favourable as other places, with just 124 couples choosing it. While Paris was almost twice as popular as The Lake District, with 209 couples, the number of recently married British couples going to The Maldives for their honeymoon was three times higher than those selecting The Lake District, with 432 couples.
