The table graph shows the top eight romantic getaways. It compares average honeymoon destinations for British couples. How many day-trippers visited the eight different vacation spots: Spain, Paris, Thailand, the Lake District, the Maldives, the Greek Islands, Bali, and Costa Rica.
Overall, it can be seen that Thai vacations did not attract as many lovers as Bali. Bali’s couples’ retreat was twice as popular as the Maldives honeymoon. Another notable aspect is that the Lake District was not as popular as the other romantic vacations.
Looking at the details, Thailand attracted more couples than other honeymoon destinations. 1,410 lovers said they toured Thailand. Costa Rica was the second most popular location, with 750 couples, just ahead of the Maldives getaway, which attracted approximately 600 couples. The Greek Islands came next with 432 sweethearts, which was twice as many as Paris, with 209 lovers.
Regarding other destinations, 140 couples said they nearly hitched in Spain in 2010, slightly more than the number who traveled to the Lake District. At the bottom of the list, the Lake District attracted the fewest sweethearts, with only 124 couples choosing it according to the survey.
