The given line charts illustrate the changes in household ownership of three electrical appliances namely washing machines, refrigerators, and vacuum cleaners as well as the average weekly time spent on housework in a particular country over the period from 1920 to 2019.
Overall, it is clear that the proportion of ownerdhip of all three electrical applances increased significantly over the period, with refrigerators and vacum cleaners hitted their highest points. In contrast, the average time spent on housework declined steady.
Baced on statistics, the proportion of Washing machine and Refrigerators were far more common, at nearly 40% and 30% respectively, while households not used vacum cleaners in 1920. In 1940, the proportion of vacum cleaners dramatically increased by reaching same position as washing machina as well as refrigerator at approximately 50%. The percentages of both washing and refrigerators similarly increased at 70%, while the percentages of vacum cleaeners oustipped its figures, with reaching 90% in 1960. The remarkable changes was followed by 1980’s, the percentages of refrigerators relatively increased with 90%, along with vacum cleaners ownership increased constantly, hitting 100% respectively. But the figures of washing machine commenced steadily declined with nearly 65%. At the ends of the period, the percentage of vacum cleaners outperformed, and then it hitted its higher point at 100%, whereas washine machine relately same position in 2019.
In terms of housework, the average weekly hours fell dramatically from about 50 hours in 1920 to 35 hours in 1940, and then to 20 hours in 1960. The downward trend continued more gradually, reaching around 15% by over the period.
