The pie charts compare the electricity production from different sources in four countries in 2003 and 2008. Overall, the hydropower accounted for the largest proportion of electricity in Morocco and Sweden, however,in India and Vietnam fossil fuels were the dominant source
Looking first at electricity generated from fossil fuels, India showed 81.9%, compared to 56.3% in Vietnam. Both of these countries also harnessed energy from hydropower in huge amounts, with Vietnam producing a staggering 43.7% of electricity from hydropower. This figure was in substantial contrast to 14.6% by the other country. While 3.5% of electricity came from nuclear energy in India, Vietnam did not generate any electricity from nuclear power.
The remaining countries, Morocco and Sweden, bucked the trend, with hydropower emerging as the most significant source of electricity in both nations. Almost all the electricity available in Morocco was generated from hydropower, at 95.5%, whereas the figure for Sweden stood at just over half, at 52%. The amount of fossil fuels in these countries had similar figures, 4.5% in Morocco and 4% in Sweden. The European nation, however, generated approximately 44% of its electricity from nuclear power, compared to 0% by Morocco
