In general, it is noticeable that salt water dominates global water usage, while the most fresh water is located in ice and glaciers. Furthermore, water is mainly used for agriculture in Egypt and Saudi Arabia, whereas Canada is the biggest user of water in terms of industry.
Looking at the details, it is evident that salt water accounts for 95% of the total amount of water, contributing nineteen times more than fresh water (5%). Regarding fresh water, ice and glaceries were the biggest resource of fresh water, representing 75%. This is followed by ground water and surface water, comprising 23% and 2% respectively.
In Egypt and Saudi Arabia, water usage makes up the biggest share, at 84% and 83% respectively. In contrast, Canada records by far the lowest proportion for the same purpose, at just 9%.
