Rentals were initially the most common activities in 2002; however, during the following years, they became second to DVD sales in terms of the amount of use. The pattern of reduction seen in rentals in the observation period resembles a straight descending line, indicating a steady plummeting of this form of business.
Likewise, VHS sales exhibited a similarly falling slope beginning from 2002, although, unlike rentals, they became almost non-existent far earlier in the year 2005.
In comparison, the record of DVD sales was quite complex. There was a steep rise until 2007, the year with the highest recorded amount, followed by a milder decrease afterwards. Unlike the aforementioned items, the Bluray was introduced in 2007, but its sale has risen gradually to attain its by far largest annual count of nearly 1000.
