The map shows how a town center has developed since 1700 till nowadays. There have been several changes, the most noticeable of them are changes in accommodation and reconstruction of residential area, modernization and expanding of trading areas, and new roads building.
In 1700, in the central area of the town center were founded several establishments, like church, market square and hotel. To the north and northeast of the town center previously was the area of Goode farm and Market street, that originates from the Church and continues towards the northeast. Adjacent to market street there was an area with a couple of houses and stables to the east of the map. Down to stables there is a St Peter’s Lane that continues towards the east. On the south part of the town center there were some shops with fields behind them, and one house on the southeast edge of the map. On the opposite side, on the southwest, there was an area that was used for a steggle farm. On the northwest part of a map there flows a river with a bridge across it, which has remained to this day.
Turning to the present day map, it can be seen that Goode farm was replaced by a car park, the residential area was expanded to accommodate new housing, and stables were rebuilt into a modern block of flats. Market street has extended in the southern direction, and on the eastern side of the street the supermarket was founded. On the opposite side of the street, a shopping area was extended. Adjacent to this area, one more residential area was founded. In addition to that, the road conditions were added – the new Steggle road can be seen on the west side of the map, traffic lights and a roundabout.
