Large areas of grassland situated in the west of the town were reduced and used to build the new Steggle Road. The grassland in the south and the north east side of the town were redeveloped, 12 more housing estates and 2 more shops were built compare to 1700 in the area to the south of the market square. While the two houses and the stabbles were all knocked off and transformed into houses and block of flats.
