The map below illustrates how the city centre has been transformed from 1700 untill the present.
Overall, it is apparent that a comparison of maps shows that the area has transformed into more urbanized and modern place. The most noticeable change is redeveloped road infrastructure. Despite significant reforms in the city centre, some areas have not rebuilt: the market square in the centre of map and the church next to the right of it. Additionally, nature of the city have expirienced no change, such as river and the bridge over it.
However, the most noticeable change is redeveloped road infrastructure: the addition of traffic lights on Steggle road; making Market street more pedestrianise; erecting of a roundabout on linking with St. Peter’s Lane and High Street. Also, all of roads have been developed. In the northern part, Goode Farm was removed, to make room for a number of houses and car park for residents. The Steggle farm was taken away for all.It is clear that on he north-east coast houses have been knocked down to build more houses and a block of flats, while the shops south of the town have been extended
