The chart below compares the proportion of households with cars in one European country during 1971 and 2001 time period.

Overall, families divided to three type, and the highest number received by housholds without any cars, the figure has changed untill the rest of period. Whereas, the number was significantly low for families with two cars.

In the begining of the period (in 1971) families that did not have any cars reached a peak, with illustrating approximately 48%. The figure slightly dripped to roughhly 42% in 1981. Additionally, theyfigure decreased again to 30% in the 1991 and ramained steadily untill the end of time period.

Moreover, the households with one car demonstrated u-shaped pattern. In 1981 the number was around 35%, and the figure rised approximately to 42% in 2001 before decreasing rapidly to 19% in 1991. Conversely, the number fluctuated in families with 2 cars. Starting from 18% in the beginning and went up to 29% in 1981. After that the figure dropped to roughly 21% in 1991 and again growth to about 31% in the end of time period.
