The plans below show the ground floor of a library in 2001 and how it was redeveloped in 2009.Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant. You should write at least 150 words.

The plan illustrates the layout of the library’s ground floor in 2001 and changes added to it for redevelopment in 2009.

Overall, to follow the era of modernism the library underwent to significant changes in which many useful and important things were added to it.

In 2001, there was 8 square tables placed in the centre of the floor, primary for study in a peaceful environment. The shelves of fiction books was at the north side while the history section was built on the northwest corner and there was also an area called self-help, probaly for self study, it was located on the southwest side of the libarary. There was also newspapers shelves at the east side. Right infront of the entrance, there was a librarian’s desk.

By 2009, the square tables replaced with 4 long rectangular tables. A children’s area was added in the space of fiction books section while these shelves relocated towards east side of the library where many more sections of books was incorporated such as law, economics and kitchen. The old newspapers shelves was removed and a section of films and DVDs consolidated in that section. The computers were placed in front of the librarian’s desk.

In conclusion, the theme and stuff of the library’s ground floor changed significantly and many advanced resources was consolidated such as computers.
