Dear Principal,

I am writing to express my concern about the increasing use of smartphones during school hours and its negative impact on students’ education. Recently, I have observed a noticeable decline in academic performance, which I strongly believe is linked to the unrestricted use of smartphones at school.

Excessive smartphone use distracts students from their lessons, reduces their ability to concentrate, and encourages multitasking during class, which lowers the quality of learning. Many students also use their phones for non-educational purposes, such as social media and gaming, instead of paying attention to teachers. This constant distraction not only affects individual learning outcomes but also disrupts the classroom environment.

I believe the current policy, which allows free use of smartphones during school hours, is problematic because it fails to set boundaries for responsible usage. Without clear restrictions, students are more likely to misuse their devices, prioritizing entertainment over academic responsibilities.

To address this issue, I suggest implementing stricter regulations on smartphone use. For example, students could be required to keep their phones switched off during lessons, with usage only permitted during breaks or for educational purposes under teacher supervision. Additionally, promoting digital literacy programs would help students understand how to use technology responsibly.
