Dear Ethan,
I just arrived at my aunt’s house a few hours ago and thought I should let you know I got here safely. Unfortunately, my backpack which had your book got lost on the way. I cant exactly point out if I misplaced it in transit or if it fell off from the trolley I used for my luggage at the airport.
I am really sorry about the book Ethan. I have tried all I can to search for it but to no avail. I feel bad that I lost the book despite knowing how much the book meant to you because it was specially autographed by the author.
I promise to make it up to you if you let me. I can offer you my other novel, the one you have been asking for, as a compensation. I also don’t mind bearing our weekly friday outing expense alone next week once I return. Kindly find it in your heart to forgive me.
Your best friend,
Leniency.
