I hope this message finds you well. I am writing to sincerely apologize for the unfortunate incident that occurred with the item I recently borrowed from you. As you know, you kindly lent me your antique vase, which I intended to use as a centerpiece for a small family gathering.

Regrettably, while I was cleaning the table before setting it up, the vase slipped from my hands and fell onto the floor. Despite my immediate effort to catch it, it shattered into several pieces. I am deeply sorry for this accident, as I understand how valuable and sentimental this vase is to you.

To make amends, I have already contacted a professional restorer to see whether the vase can be repaired. If it cannot be restored to its original condition, I will ensure that I replace it with a vase of equal or greater value. Please let me know which option you would prefer.

Once again, I apologize for the inconvenience and disappointment this has caused. I greatly appreciate your understanding and generosity, and I promise to be far more careful in the future.
