Dear David,
I want to apologize for the vase that I broke when I was house-sitting for you last week. It was the white porcelain vase on the dinner table next to the dining set. From its appearance I can tell that it is an expensive decorative item and I am terribly sorry for having broken it.
I want to explain to you that the damage was not intentionally done. I was just trying to help you clean the dining table as I could spot some dirt on the side of it. Unfortunately, I carelessly flung my arm a bit too much and pushed the vase off the table. Luckily, the vase was not broken to pieces, but the brim of it was chipped and there was a crack along its left side.
I believe I could fix this vase if you let me try. I’ve kept all of the broken pieces from the item and I could use strong glue to put it all together. Alternatively, I can compensate for my action by giving you a new vase similar to the one I have damaged.
Please tell me which option you prefer and I’ll be more than happy to follow through with it.
Warm regards,
